Star Trek director J.J. Abrams says that they are nearing the finish line for the anticipated movie, opening in theaters and IMAX on May 8. He wrote the following on Facebook:
We're just making final tweaks to the movie -- we should be totally locked next week. Then we're going to flash-freeze it so it's totally fresh for you in May. I can't wait for you to see the movie. Wie JJ Abrams in seinen Weihnachtsgrüßen angekündigt hatte, ist der neue Star Trek Film bereits in der Weihnachtswoche fertig gestellt worden. Dies berichtet TrekMovie.com Das letzte zu erledigende Detail war das Sound Design, für welches von Oscargewinner Ben Burtt (u.a. WALL-E, Star Wars, Indiana Jones) verantwortlich war. Seine Hilfe wurde auch dringend benötigt, da eine schiere Unzahl an neuen Sounds für den Film kreiert werden musste. Canon-treue Fans können jedoch beruhigt sein: Auch altbekannte Sounds der TOS-Ära werden zu hören sein.
Insgesamt dauerte die Postproduction neun Monate, was nach "Star Trek - Der Film" die zweitlängste Dauer für einen Star Trek Films bedeutet. Der fertig gestellte Film wird nun bis zum offiziellen Filmstart in vier Monaten in den Tresoren von Paramount Pictures verwahrt.

Und bei filmschoolrejects.com gibt es noch eine Kritik eines Nicht-Trekkies:
First of all, this is a fantastic movie. It’s pacing is rapid-fire, the action is larger-than-life and raises blood pressure with ease, and the characters come to life in a very cool way. Overall, it’s an exciting flick that is shot beautifully - featuring a cast that carries all the weight necessarily to create some enduring figures to root for. A near-perfect Summer tentpole blockbuster.
