Na der spricht mich ja überhaupt nicht an, der Trailer sagt eher aus, schaut mich bloss nicht an!
Werde diesbezüglich erstmal Eure Rezensionen abwarten, wie denn der Film sei.
Oder die bringen demnächst mal ein ansprechenderen Trailer raus, und wegen 1 Minute Film-Sequenz von Jessica, tu ich mir den nicht an, wenn er nur das verspricht wie der Trailer aussieht, obwohl ein Staraufgebot ist. |

Wow! Were do I begin? In case you didn't hear the Sundance buzz, THE TEN is a collection of hilarious vingettes loosely (extremely loosely) based around the ten commandments. Director David Wain and co-writer Ken Marino corraled the usual suspects from past sketch comedy troupe The State plus a vast array of recognizable faces including Paul Rudd, Winona Ryder, and Rob Corddry to bring us one of the most outrageous comedies of the year.
I've been a big fan of Wain and company's work throughout the years, and it's always to fun see the same faces pop up in each other's projects all the way from The State to Wet Hot American Summer and now even Reno 911. THE TEN is the perfect concept film highlighting the vast talents of these perennial collaborators.
The humor of THE TEN is as off-the-wall as off-the-wall gets. Okay, maybe not as off-the-wall as Stella, but this comedy definitely exists in its own universe. Examples include a "keeping up with the Jones'"-type sketch where the instead of vying for best lawnmower, SUV, or pool, the competing neighbors objects of desire are CAT scan machines. As CAT scan machines fill each of their homes, yards, and rooftops, madness ensues. Another segment features a skydiving Adam Brody as he jumps from a plane just as we learn he has no parachute. Miraculously, fiance Winona Ryder finds him alive, albeit imbedded shoulders down in the ground with no chance of survival if ever removed. As we make our way through the 10 commandments, overlapping characters and storylines form a vague connection between each short film culminating in a fantastic musical finale. In addition to the ten individual sketches, we get a bonus segment (and highlight of the film I might add) from narrator Paul Rudd. As he "narrates" the film, we get to see a love triangle unfold between him, Famke Janssen, and Jessica Alba. Paul Rudd is hilarious!
I'm so pleased that a film like THE TEN is getting a theatrical release. From the Kids in the Hall to the Upright Citizens Brigade, I've always been excited when such talented comedy troupes have the opportunity to reach a wider audience. I'm a big fan of short films and bizarre sketch comedy, so for me, THE TEN completely hits the nail on the head while appealing to a large audience. If you want to laugh your ass off go see THE TEN.

With the Exception of Saturday Night Live, no recent sketch troupe has had more of an influence on the modern comedy scene than The State. After a short-lived but amazing run on Mtv, the numerous members moved onto other things. Most of these projects have been great, ( Reno 911, Viva Variety, Wet Hot American Summer, The Baxter), some have been terrible, (The Pacifier, Herby: Fully Loaded, Men Behaving Badly) others just strange (Stella). While most of theformer cast have appeared in each other's films and shows in various configurations, The Ten is the first movie to reunite the entire cast of that doomed, brilliant show. In addition to the State folks (Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Michael Ian Black, Ben Garant, Todd Holoubek, Michael Showalter), director David Wain ( Wet Hot American Summer, Stella) has assembled an impressive ensemble cast, composed of some predictable choices, such as Paul Rudd, Rob Corddry Justin Theroux and Oliver Platt, and a whole bunch of actors not necessarily known for absurd comedy, folks like Jessica Alba, Famke Janssen, Liev Schreiber, Winona Ryder, Gretchen Mol and Ron Silver.
The Ten is a collection of long, interweaving sketches, loosely tied to the ten commandments. Paul Rudd introduces each story from the middle of a black void, the only decoration two enormous stone tablets. Despite the premise, don't expect any sort of real religious commentary from the film. With one exception, the biblical concept is used only as the most basic inspiration for each of the bits. The humor on display here is most certainly of the absurd variety, think Stella more than Reno 911. This form of humor can be a dangerous one. The line between comically absurd and random for the sake of random can be perilously thin and, as is often the case in this sort of enterprise, some of it works, some doesn't. Fortunately, the movie throws so many jokes at you in such rapid succession, even when one falls flat, there is usually another, funnier gag waiting right behind it.
As should be expected with such an enormous cast, not every actor gets a lot of screen time. Almost everyone, however, gets something fun to do. Winona Ryder, in particular, stands out. It has been a long time since I last enjoyed her this much in a movie. In fact, with the possible exception of Heathers, this is the funniest thing she has ever done. She gets some of the most bizarre scenes and she plays them with utter seriousness. It is hilarious. Jessica Alba is also surprisingly funny in her two scenes, although, my low expectations for her comic skills may have had something to do with that.
I am being intentionally vague about the content of the film. The reason for this, is that in most cases, knowing anything about a scene would ruin a lot of what makes it work. However, I will say that prison rape, puppet sex, cat-scan collecting, adultery, animated rhinos and fatal malpractice are among the subjects covered.
The Ten will definitely not be every one's cup of tea. If you haven't been able to hang with David Wain in the past, this probably isn't going to change your mind. That being said, I saw the movie at a packed screening in Austin's Paramount Theater. There were about a thousand people there and they went crazy for it, laughing and even breaking into applause during some scenes (Michael Ian Black, delivering a Shakespeare soliloquy, was particularly well received). As I said, the film might be a bit too odd to make any sort of mainstream splash, but I predict it eventually earning a sizable cult following.
The Ten is slated to release in theaters on August 3rd 2007.

Im dem Trailer ist Jessica aber nur sehr kurz zu sehen. Sie spielt wohl in "The Ten" nur eine sehr kleine Nebenrolle. Schade eigentlich. |

Ich hatte es irgendwie geahnt. Sie war bisher bei keinem Promotermin, und sie hat
ja auch nur eine extrem kleine Rolle - wohl nur eine Szene - in dem Film.

Also soweit ich das mitbekommen habe, hat Jessica zwei Szenen in dem Film. Im Trailer sieht man sie ja auch (kurz) in zwei verschiedenen Outfits. |
