Valentine’s Day Looks to Repeat Success of He’s Just Not That Into You
When Robert Altman passed away in November of 2006, the subgenre of cinema known as the ensemble film lost its spiritual leader. Whereas Altman always utilized the depth and breadth of his cast of characters as a way to add richness and texture to his projects, in the hands of lesser talents, the ensemble film becomes little more than a way to get a lot of famous faces on a movie poster together. And while it's still too early to totally slag the proposed New Line project known as Valentine's Day as little more than a cash grab, the piece that ran in the New York Times this morning gives us precious little information to suggest anything to the contrary.
As we learn in the article, New Line was all smiles after He's Just Not That Into You raked in some $28 million during Valentine's Day weekend this year (on its way to a $94 million domestic gross). Then, when some enterprising young executive realized that V-Day falls on a weekend again next year (who knew that calendars actually worked like that?!?), the studio rushed to get another project in the pipeline that would appeal to the same target audience. Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries) is lined up to direct the aptly, yet blandly, titled Valentine's Day, an ensemble project that is set to star some of the most popular actresses that those baby eaters over at CAA have in their stable: Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, and Shirley MacLaine (but, shockingly, no Drew Barrymore!). And although story details are loose, writer Michael Cieply reports that "the plot has something to do with a bunch of would-be romantics working their way through a tangle of circumstances in Los Angeles."
Oh boy. Seeing as we will inevitably be dragged to see this on Valentine's Day next year, we think we speak for everyone when we say that we hope this turns out better than that other Los Angeles–based, SEO friendly ensemble flick: Crash.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah and Carter Jenkins will be acting in New Line's Valentine's Day. Garry Marshall is directing this film. The film focuses on five somewhat interconnecting stories that take place in Los Angeles during Valentine's Day.
Foxx will play a sports reporter who has to cover a "Valentine's Day in L.A." story and not something that's sports related. Latifah will be the agent for Dane's character who is a football player. Jenkins will be a busy man who can't find the time to get busy with his girlfriend (Emma Roberts).
The film is currently shooting.

Sie war ja auch schon kurz in Texas zum Dreh, nun ist sie wieder in LA für VD und in
ein paar Tagen geht's wohl wieder zurück nach Texas um Machete weiter zu drehen.

Wie der "Hollywoodreporter" berichtet, werden in dem Film fünf unterschiedliche Handlungsstränge miteinander verbunden, die alle am Valentinstag in Los Angeles stattfinden.
Einige Ausschnitte: Julia Roberts wird eine Armee-Offizierin mimen, die sich gerade auf dem Rückflug aus dem Irak nach Los Angeles befindet. Im gleichen Flugzeug sitzt der homosexuelle Cooper, der mit einem verklemmten Football-Spieler liiert ist. Währenddessen hält ein Florist (Ashton Kutcher) um die Hand seiner Freundin (Jessica Alba) an, nur um daraufhin zu bemerken, dass er in seine beste Freundin (Jennifer Garner) verliebt ist. Anne Hathaway hat ein ganz anderes Problem: Sie arbeitet in einer großen Talentagentur und datet einen Postboten. Und die arme Jessica Biel ist unglücklich verliebt und hat kein einziges Valentins-Date. Verbotene Affären dürfen natürlich auch nicht fehlen: Rentnerin Shirley MacLaine erfährt, dass ihr Gatte sie vor langer Zeit betrogen hat.
Die Produktionsfirma "New Line", die bereits für die Erfolgskomödie "Er steht einfach nicht auf dich" verantwortlich war, setzt in "Valentine's Day" noch höhere Erwartungen. Das Gesamtbudget von umgerechnet knapp 22 Millionen Euro ist bei einem Staraufkommen dieser Art nichts Ungewöhnliches und hat noch Luft nach oben. Schließlich soll beispielsweise schon Julia Roberts allein vor einigen Jahren noch sage und schreibe 16 Millionen Euro pro Film abgesahnt haben.

ja klarkenn ich die. Ich meinte auch eher, das es sich so anhört als ob die davon ausgehen das der schlecht wird und nur nacktszenen könnten ihn davor bewahren gar nicht gesehen zu werden. |

Der Film startet in Deutschland am 18. Februar 2010, in den USA kommt er eine Woche früher ins Kino.
