Transformers 4 Kicks Off New Trilogy!
Despite the massive box office success of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which has taken in over $400 million worldwide since opening last Wednesday, there are still doubts about the future of this franchise. Both director Michael Bay and star Shia LaBeouf have stated that Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be their last movie in the series, which has lead many to speculate that Paramount will simply reboot the whole thing.
Producer Don Murphy had a different take on the future of the Transformers, indicating they will start a new trilogy with the same robots. Here's what he had to say below.
"What happens next? Certainly not a reboot. We haven't lost the Transformers. They didn't grow up or become expensive like Tobey Maguire. I don't know what happens next. I'm pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn't all bots."
Paramount Pictures has not announced plans for a follow-up to Transformers: Dark of the Moon yet, but with robust box office figures still pouring in, you can bet the studio has something up their sleeve for more robots in disguise.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released June 29th, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

Hasbro in Talks for Fourth Transformers Movie
With Transformers: Dark of the Moon reaching the fourth spot on the all-time worldwide box office list with $1.119 billion earned, a fourth movie was to be expected.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Hasbro President and CEO Brian Goldner, speaking in the company's third-quarter earnings conference call, said that the company is in "active discussions" with Paramount Pictures, director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg about a potential fourth "Transformers" movie. Goldner said he hopes to have news to share in the next quarter.
He also said that Hasbro continues to develop other projects based on its brands. "We continue to actively develop a number of additional Hasbro films with great partners and writers, including Micronauts, Ouija, Candyland, Risk, Stretch Armstrong, Clue and Monopoly," he said.
Goldner added that the company will continue to work with studio partners and won't start making its own films like Marvel has done.

Will Transformers 4 & 5 Shoot Back-to-Back?
Following this morning's report that says a third sequel to 2007's Transformers is in "active discussions," comes word, via Variety that the plan may actually be to shoot a fourth and a fifth film back to back. The same article also states that Shia LaBeouf is unlikely to return and that the franchise may instead place Jason Statham in a leading role, though no official negotiations have begun.
Michael Bay, meanwhile, is said to be interested in returning to direct but, again, nothing is official at this time. No matter what, Bay is likely to complete his next, Pain & Gain, before production on another Transformers would begin, potentially as early as late 2012.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an immense financial hit earlier this summer, reaching the fourth spot on the all-time worldwide box office list with $1.119 billion earned.

Laut comingsoon.net kommt Teil 4 im Sommer 2014:
"We’ll be there in the summer of 2014," he confirmed, as well as addressing (albeit vaguely) whether Michael Bay will be returning as director or not. "Michael had a debate because he sort of felt at first that he'd done three. Michael and I are both the same in that we always like to top ourselves. That doesn't necessarily mean bigger. It can be bigger in places, it just means different, but we're going to push really hard as fresh and new as we can be."

Michael Bay on Transformers 4's Plot, Cast and Budget
With "Transformers: The Ride-3D" now open at Universal Studios Hollywood, film franchise director Michael Bay stopped by the ride and spoke with The LA Times about his plans for his fourth -- and, as he stated recently final -- Transformers film, set to hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
“It’s not a reboot," Bay said, reiterating that the new film will have an all-new cast. "That’s maybe the wrong word. I don’t want to say 'reboot' because then people will think we’re doing a 'Spider-Man' and starting from the beginning. We’re not. We’re taking the story that you’ve seen — the story we’ve told in three movies already — and we’re taking it in a new direction. But we’re leaving those three as the history. It all still counts... We’re moving on to something different.”
Though the script, currently being drafted by Ehren Kruger, is not yet final, Bay hints that one place the fourth film may go is into outer space.
"That feels like the way to go, doesn’t it?" says Bay. "I want to go a little off [the planet] but I don’t want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded."
No matter what, Bay says that one element of the new production is to scale back the budget somewhat to around $165 million, about $30 million less than 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Speaking of smaller scale, Bay recently wrapped his dark crime comedy Pain and Gain for the studio. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, it follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida.

Did the Internet Get Mark Wahlberg Cast in Transformers 4?
Two weeks ago, a rumor started to make the rounds that Mark Wahlberg would be playing the lead human role in Transformers 4. Director Michael Bay quickly squashed it and said they were just working on another project and that rumor was just a rumor. Last week, however, Bay posted this on his website:
"I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4. I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance – well let’s say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter."
While this is by no means an official announcement, maybe we will be seeing Mark Wahlberg say hello to Optimus Prime's mother after all.
Transformers 4 is currently in development for a June 27, 2014 release. Bay has said in the past that this is likely the final Transformers adventure with him at the helm. Ehren Kruger is providing the screenplay which is rumored to take the storyline into outer space with a brand new cast of both humans and robots.

Transformers 4 Will Take Place Four Years After Dark of the Moon
In the wake of official word breaking that Mark Wahlberg has signed on to headline the upcoming Transformers 4, director Michael Bay spoke with TMZ about the upcoming blockbuster, revealing that the new franchise entry will pick up four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
"The movie is going to continue four years from the attack on Chicago," says Bay, "which was in the last movie. It's going to have the same lineage, but it's going in a full new direction. It actually feels very natural how it's going in that direction... We're doing a lot of things that are really going to make it fresh and feel new."
