Skyfall Adds Another Bond Girl
Sam Mendes' Skyfall has lined up another Bond girl in Greek actress Tonia Sotiropoulou, reports James Bond news site MI-6 who, in turn, learned of the casting from Sotiropoulou's Facebook page.
"Dear friends," the actress wrote. "I officially announce I got a part in J. Bond new film!!! Turkey here I come! Thank u all for you love and support! This is officially the happiest day of my life bitches!!!!"
Sotiropoulou is said to appear in the beginning of the film in a sequence set in Istanbul. The actress will shoot for five days on-location beginning April 22nd.
Set for release on November 9th, Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory and Ola Rapace.
In the film, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Tja, ich war drinnen und weiß noch gar nicht genau, wie ich den Film fand. Der Vorspann ist toll und die Story ist gut, aber zwischendrinnen hatte der Film Längen. Die üblichen Spielereien von Q haben mir auch etwas gefehlt. Insgesamt ist die Bond-Figur menschlicher geworden; nicht mehr nur der coole Mega-Held, sondern ein emotional beeindruckbarer normaler Mensch. |

After opening almost everywhere internationally, Columbia Pictures and MGM's Skyfall hit North American theaters this weekend and debuted with $87.8 million for the Friday-to-Sunday frame, the biggest opening for a James Bond movie ever domestically. The 23rd installment of the franchise debuted with $2.2 million from 463 IMAX locations on Thursday and has taken in a total of $90 million since opening. The previous biggest opening for a 007 movie was Quantum of Solace, which earned $67.5 million its first weekend in November of 2008. Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw, averaged a strong $25,050 at 3,505 locations and saw $13.1 million of its total coming from IMAX theaters.
Internationally, Skyfall has reached $428.6 million for a worldwide total of $518.6 million so far. In comparison, Quantum of Solace earned $586.1 million total and Casino Royale reached $594.2 million. 60% of the opening weekend audience for Skyfall was male and 40% was female. 25% was under 25 years old and the film received an A CinemaScore. The movie reportedly cost $200 million to make.

Sony Pictures-MGM’s 23rd James Bond pic Skyfall became the 14th film ever to reach $1 billion globally, with a domestic cume of $289.6 million and $710.6 million internationally. Sony, which a month ago posted the studio’s best-ever performance at the box office with $4 billion worldwide, announced Skyfall‘s latest milestone today. Skyfall is the third pic this year to hit $1 billion globally, after Disney/Marvel’s The Avengers ($1.5B) and Warner Bros’ The Dark Knight Rises ($1.1B). Skyfall, by far the highest-grossing James Bond movie, is still going strong (No. 11 this weekend with $4.6M domestic), and has yet to bow in China.

Skyfall Passes The Dark Knight Rises at the Worldwide Box Office
The 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, has officially passed The Dark Knight Rises at the worldwide box office, becoming the seventh highest-grossing film of all time. Skyfall's total gross now sits at $1.094 billion, just above The Dark Knight Rises' $1.081 billion. The film received a large bump from the Chinese box office as the film opened there on January 21.
The six films that have earned more than Skyfall are The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.119 billion), Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($1.123 billion), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 ($1.328 billion), Marvel's The Avengers ($1.511 billion), Titanic ($2.185 billion), and Avatar ($2.782 billion).
Skyfall is also the highest-grossing James Bond film to date, almost doubling the worldwide gross of the previous film Quantum of Solace. It is currently available for digital download and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 12.
